committed to Oxford. Focused on YOU.

Hello, I’m Sandra Compton and I’m honored to be running for Oxford City Commissioner.
_________
After moving across the country during my husband’s career, Oxford quickly became our forever home. In the six years we’ve lived here, I’ve focused on giving back- serving, listening, and strengthening our community.
Professionally, I’m a triage nurse and a licensed real estate broker. I’m also a longtime volunteer: I founded the Oxford Charity Gala, started the Oxford Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade, and serve on the Oxford Historic Preservation Commission.
I’ve seen small communities thrive across the country, and I’m committed to helping Oxford shine with the same spirit of collaboration and care.
What inspired me to run wasn’t politics, but conversations with neighbors about Oxford’s future.
_________
It wasn’t politics that inspired me, it was conversations.
Conversations with neighbors, friends, and future business owners about the things we all see and feel every day: dirty streets, overflowing trash cans, public safety concerns, school challenges, and empty storefronts.
But I’ve also had conversations filled with hope — about the Oxford we know it can be, with leadership that listens, acts, and follows through on real plans.
My campaign isn’t about politics. It’s about people.
It’s about being committed to Oxford and focused on you.
Rooted in Service, Focused on You.
I bring a different kind of leadership to the Board.
_________
I’m a nurse and real estate broker, but I’ve also been a youth counselor, paralegal, mortgage loan originator, and worked in sales and finance. I’ve worked since I was 16, and I bring that same work ethic to Oxford.
As a proud Hispanic woman from San Antonio, Texas, raised by hardworking entrepreneurs, I understand smart, sustainable growth and how to create opportunities that work for everyone.
I don’t just listen, I hear. I don’t just plan, I act. People describe me as balanced, detail-oriented, and fair. I want every resident to feel respected, welcomed, and heard.
Oxford deserves leadership that listens, acts, and delivers real results for every neighbor.
_________
I’m running for City Commissioner because I believe Oxford deserves fairness, transparency, and leadership rooted in compassion and service.
Together, we can:
Oxford deserves to be a place where every family feels secure. That means investing in public safety with modern facilities, a public safety complex for police and fire to enhance, strong coordination between the agencies. It also means protecting the livability of our city: safe streets, walkable neighborhoods, affordable homes, and a quality of life that makes Oxford a place people are proud to call home.
Our children are the future of Oxford, and I support all forms of education- public, charter, private, alternative, and hybrid. With stronger safety in schools, better teacher retention, and continued focus on fundamentals, our district is moving forward. Families should have choices, and our community should work together to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Oxford is growing, and we can welcome that growth without losing what makes our city special. We need thoughtful, balanced development- more housing options for seniors, affordable rentals for families and workers, and downtown revitalization that supports our small businesses. By encouraging local investment, streamlined permitting, and customer-friendly business practices, we can strengthen our economy while keeping Oxford’s unique charm.
Volunteer your time, attend events, and help connect with the community.
Let's build a better Oxford together!
